Spring Cleaning Guide for Your Miraco Mirafount & E-Fount Automatic Waterer

Hey there, PeteCo Supply Fans! With spring just around the corner, it's time to give some love and attention to one of the unsung heroes of our animal care routines: the Miraco Mirafount and heated E-Fount waterer.

These automatic waterers have been faithfully keeping our herds hydrated all winter long, but now it's their turn for a little pampering. Let's dive into a step-by-step guide on how to give your Miraco waterer the spring cleaning it deserves!

Step 1: Scrub and Clean the Trough and Valve Chamber Area

Cleaning the trough area of these covered automatic waterers requires a bit of disassembly. Remove the top covers on the ball waterers or lift the flaps on the hog waterers. Remove the inspection plug to access the valve chamber on the units that require this extra step.

To Drain, start by removing the drain plug to allow any water and debris to wash out of the trough and valve chamber area. Stop the flow of water by lifting the float. Use a rag or scrub brush to scrub away any stubborn debris clinging to the sides. Once you've given it a thorough cleaning, replace the drain plug and allow the automatic waterer to fill up again.

2: Inspect the Gaskets

Next, take a close look at the gasket around the inspection plug and side access panel. If you notice any signs of wear, tears, or cracks, it's time to replace the gasket. A tight seal is essential to prevent air gaps and ensure the efficient operation of your LilSpring waterer.

Step 3: Replace Any Faulty Parts

Now's the time to address any parts of your Mirafount or E-fount waterer that may not be functioning properly. The most common parts that may need replacing include drain plugs, valves, and floats. Don't wait until these parts fail completely – replacing them now will save you time and hassle down the road.

Step 4: Prepare for Warmer Weather

If you're confident that winter weather is no longer a concern in your area, it's time to address the heaters. The heated E-Fount units do not require maintenance however should you choose to do so, you can turn the electricity off to the unit.

If you added a drop in 543 heater to your Mirafount, take the heater out and give them a wipe down to remove any dust or debris. Store them in a dry place until they're needed again in the fall.

By following these simple steps, you'll ensure that your Miraco Miraco and E-Fount waterer is in top-notch condition and ready to keep your animals hydrated and happy throughout the spring and beyond. So grab your cleaning supplies and let's get to work – your animal will thank you for spring cleaning!
